Our Vision

Reshaping The Justice Program.

Established in the fall of 2009, the Justice Studies Task Force (JSTF) was founded with the aim of promoting camaraderie, collaboration, and unity among the various student groups within the Justice Studies Department. Comprised of two members from each Justice Studies student group, representatives from the graduate program, and Justice Studies alumni, the Task Force serves as a hub for bringing together diverse perspectives and experiences.

In the spring of 2010, the JSTF introduced the Confidence Challenge, an engaging physical agility event that pits teams against each other in a friendly yet demanding rendition of the physical agility tests required by law enforcement programs. The competition aims to familiarize students and faculty with the physical demands of law enforcement careers while simultaneously fostering a sense of camaraderie and companionship within the Justice Studies Department. The Confidence Challenge has been met with great enthusiasm and has become an eagerly anticipated annual event each spring.

In 2013, the Task Force took on the responsibility of organizing and hosting the Justice Studies Department Convocation ceremony. This event serves as a celebration of our graduates' achievements, as well as a recognition of their future aspirations and contributions to the field of criminal justice.

In the fall of 2018, the JSTF assumed responsibilities for the Justice Studies Showcase Dinner, the department's annual fundraising event that brings together Justice Studies alumni to reconnect with current students, the department, and fellow alumni. The Showcase not only builds bridges between alumni and students but also raises crucial funds for the Justice Studies Department's Student Success Endowment. This endowment supports a range of student activities that enhance their educational experience and foster professional development within the field of criminal justice.

Through these various initiatives, the Justice Studies Task Force continually strives to create a supportive and enriching environment for students, faculty, and alumni, fostering connections and driving the Justice Studies Department towards a brighter future.
